At Tyntesfield Primary School, keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility.

Helping keep our children safe

If you are worried about a child’s safety, wellbeing or welfare, it is important to share your concern as soon as possible.

You do not need to be certain or have proof. If something does not feel right, please speak to someone.

 

How to report a concern to the school

If your concern relates to a child at Tyntesfield Primary School, please contact the school safeguarding team.

This inbox is monitored securely and accessed only by:

  • Mrs Manion – Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

  • Mrs Higgins – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)

Your concern will be treated seriously, sensitively and confidentially.

 

What happens after you report a concern?

When a concern is received, the safeguarding team will:

  • listen carefully and take your concern seriously

  • record the concern accurately and securely

  • consider the child’s immediate safety and wellbeing

  • decide the most appropriate next steps

Initial support may include:

  • speaking with the child (where appropriate)

  • offering support to the family

  • providing guidance or early help

  • seeking advice from safeguarding professionals

  • making a referral to external services if needed

Our approach is always child‑centred and supportive of families. We aim to work openly and respectfully wherever possible, while always putting the child’s safety first.

 

Reporting concerns outside of school

If you are worried about a child outside of school hours, or if your concern is urgent, you can contact Trafford’s safeguarding services directly.

If a child is in immediate danger

If you believe a child is at immediate risk of harm, please contact the police straight away.

  • You will never be criticised for raising a concern

  • Sharing concerns early helps children and families get the right support
