Safeguarding for Visitors & Volunteers

We are delighted to welcome visitors and volunteers into our school community. We greatly value the contribution that visitors, volunteers and external professionals make to enriching the experiences of our children.
The safety and wellbeing of our pupils is everyone's responsibility. We therefore ask all visitors and volunteers to read and follow the guidance below while on site.
Signing In
All visitors and volunteers must:

Report to the main reception on arrival.

Sign in using the school's visitor system.

Wear a visitor or volunteer badge at all times whilst on site.

Sign out when leaving the school premises.
If you see anyone without a visitor badge, please inform a member of staff.
Safeguarding Expectations
Whilst visiting Tyntesfield Primary School, you must:

Act as a positive role model.

Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
-
Treat all children with respect and dignity.
-
Follow staff instructions and school procedures.
-
Report any safeguarding concerns immediately.
Visitors and volunteers must never:

Take photographs of children using personal devices.
-
Exchange personal contact details with pupils.
-
Arrange to meet pupils outside school.
-
Post information about pupils on social media.

Promise confidentiality to a child who discloses a concern.
If a Child Shares a Concern
If a child tells you something that causes concern:

Listen carefully and remain calm.
-
Do not ask leading questions.
-
Do not investigate the concern yourself.
-
Reassure the child that they have done the right thing by speaking out.

Explain that you must pass the information to people who can help.
-
Report the concern immediately to a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Write down what was said as accurately as possible and pass this information to the safeguarding team without delay.
Professional Conduct
All visitors and volunteers are expected to:

Respect confidentiality.

Follow the school's safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
-
Be mindful of professional language and behaviour.
-
Use mobile phones only in designated areas and never around pupils.
Safeguarding Team
If you have a safeguarding concern during your visit, please speak immediately to a member of the safeguarding team.

If a child is in immediate danger, staff will take urgent action and contact the appropriate services.
